FFM Group LLC

FFM Group LLC (Free and Fair Media Group) was founded in 21/09/2011, by Alba Malltezi, Eva Doçi and an Italian company Superba LLC. Malltezi, the wife of an Italian journalist and media owner, Carlo Bollino, has the majority of the shares (74.96%) in the FFM Group.

The company was created right after the Italian company Edisud LLC sold its media holdings in Albania, which were headed by Bollino for nearly 2 decades. Immediately after being registered, FFM Group founded, as majority shareholder with 80%, Shqiptarja.com LLC, which started to publish the newspaper and a website with the same name.

Later in 2013, the company Media Content LLC, which is also owned by Free and Fair Media Group, bought a 34% stake in a television station, Balkan TV, owned by media mogul and former MP Koco Kokedhima. The TV station was rebranded under the name A1 Report TV. The joint venture between FFM and Balkan TV, ended in September 2015; however, problems between the two parties had already been registered earlier.

After Kokedhima and the company, owned by Malltezi fell off, her husband Carlo Bollino relaunched the TV station under the brand Report TV, but this time under the ownership of Multiscreen LLC, a company owned 100% by Bollino himself.

FFM Group and Multiscreen are treated here as separate companies, but the media outlets they own act publicly as belonging to one group. The newspaper, the website both called Shqiptarja.com, publish Report TV videos, and the latter reports news published in the newspaper. Furthermore, the group’s Facebook page and the website include articles which treat all the three of outlets as related to FFM group under the direction of Bollino and Malltezi.

Carlo Bollino – although he is not listed as owner or CEO of the company, Carlo Bollino, a former journalist at the Italian news agency ANSA, is considered the key figure behind Shqiptarja.com and Report TV- where he owns 100% of shares. Although Bollino is perceived as close to the government and Socialist Prime Minister Edi Rama, he has rejected such accusations as politically motivated and has affirmed his independence. The opposition has also accused Carlo Bollino of benefiting from an NGO project, which turned Albania’s Cold War era bunkers into museums, BunkArt. Bollino has denied any wrongdoing.
